What is coaching?
Coaching is an action-oriented, future-focused partnership. Through listening, questioning and encouragement, you are free to explore your true, authentic self.
The coaching process empowers you to identify and achieve your goals in your personal and professional life. Through the process, the individual gains awareness of who they are and what is important to them, discovers their potential, removes mental obstacles, builds confidence, in order to bring real, tangible and measurable change in the their life.
The coaching philosophy is that the individual is complete, whole and fully resourceful, that they are the expert in their own life, and is fully capable of taking their goals to reality.
How is coaching different?
Therapy and counselling focus on the mental health of a person and search the past for root causes. Coaching focuses on the mental growth of a person, and looks to the future for possibilities.
Consulting and mentoring provide expertise in certain business areas, and assume that the consultant or mentor knows better. Coaching allows the individual to fully own their issues and use their own resources to solve their problems.
What can you expect?
The coaching sessions will be a 100% confidential, non-judgemental space where no topic is too inconsequential.
Where the session goes is completely up to you. You, as the client, have full control of the pace, topic, content and goals of the discussion.
You will set short term goals for each session, and if required, you will set longer term goals for your life.
What will I expect from you?
The expectation, from my perspective, is that you must be open with yourself, be willing to learn (about yourself and about the world around you) and be committed to progress towards your goals.
You are the owner of the goals and actions that you set for yourself. While I, as a coach, will encourage and motivate you, the ultimate ownership of how you progress is yours.
What topics could be covered?
One of the most valuable aspects of coaching is the open and non-judgemental space in which the individual can use to sort through thoughts, bounce ideas, explore options, become aware of emotions - in all areas of life. There are no boundaries.
If no pressing topics come to mind, you can begin with an overall assessment on the different aspects of your life and discover your level of satisfaction in each. We can discuss this as we progress.
