About Me

I have not followed a conventional career path because I wanted more.

As a millennial myself, I am closely connected to our needs and wants. I believe that the best gift that we can give ourselves is to know that we have choices, and to have the ability to be mindful of how we make them.

I fell into a corporate marketing career when I first joined the workforce in my early 20s, and I steadily made it my world without questioning my motives. I also hold an MBA degree from one of the best business schools in Australia. By conventional standards, I was on a great trajectory to a comfortable retirement.

However, I was not satisfied. I made the decision in 2015 to destabilise myself in search of the career that was both meaningful and fulfilling. The journey was not quick, nor was it without its challenges. However, it was worthwhile to discover the choices I had available, and the values that are the most important to me.

Because I have been through the process, I know the benefits of having a sounding board, a confidante, or just someone who cares. I know how deeply (and sometimes desperately) we need prompting, to take time out, to pause, and to reassess. It is not easy, but I know that it is worthwhile.

About Paul Chang Coaching

Anyone with personal and professional goals can benefit from coaching.

Paul Chang Coaching was born out of my desire to partner with people to achieve the goals that they set for themselves, to see the possibilities, and to make changes.

Since discovering my passion for coaching people, the focus for Paul Chang Coaching has been to support individuals to bring back control in their lives and choose to switch their perspective. In addition to feeling empowered to choose their own perspective, I want to foster a space that is empowered, non-judgemental, and safe for anyone who wishes to benefit from coaching.

Paul Chang Coaching is a coaching partner to millennials, but we welcome anyone (non-millennials too!) to get in touch and find out what coaching can do for you.

Why coaching?

Everyone has dreams that deserve to be recognised and celebrated.

I am energised and excited to learn people’s stories, motivations and dreams. I have known this for a long time. Working with people was something I always knew I would love. However, making the career change from marketing products to connecting with people seemed daunting and unattainable, and because it was too much out of my planned career trajectory, I pushed it deep to the back of my mind.

Discovering coaching was serendipitous. It was the right moment, it took the right friend to suggest it, and I was in the right frame of mind to pursue it. I signed up to the Certified Coach Training Program with the International Coach Academy (ICA) in late 2018. The more I became involved, the more I was convinced that it was something that fit my expectations of what a career should be for me.

Through coaching, I have discovered and consolidated what I believe to be true for myself. I have grown to be more self-aware, more emotionally intelligent, more courageous to go after the things I want and love, and to be more sure of my decisions.

I cannot help but wonder whether I could have discovered coaching earlier if I was guided along the path by a coach. I was on my own for most of my search, and I was aware of how much easier the journey could have been if I had the support of someone who understood and cared.

I want to be that someone for my generation.

Why millennials?

Millennials are unique, and need a coach who understands them.

We, as millennials, are the first generation of the digital natives. We are more connected to the world and to information than any of the previous generations. We want more access and less ownership. We have a different view on health and well-being. We are changing expectations and we are challenging long-held views and values passed down by generations before us.

However, it is not easy to break away, especially without knowing what our own views and values are.

Paul Chang Coaching is the coaching partner to the millennial generation. Realising dreams is not straightforward, and breaking out of convention is difficult. With someone on your side as an ongoing coaching partner who understands, the journey can be a whole lot easier.

Because the process is versatile and the philosophies of coaching remain the same, non-millennials can also benefit greatly from coaching. I encourage anyone who has goals and want to achieve them - millennials and non-millennials - to explore coaching.
